I am never alone
You are with me.
The nights may sometimes stretch long and lonely
Deep down I know
You are with me.
When things are not quite right
Life often seems like a fight
I know, no matter what
You are with me.
When I need a shoulder to cry on
Or someone to uplift me
All I need to do is close my eyes
You are with me.
There is love, understanding and warmth around me
From the moment I wake up, and especially whilst i sleep
I am never alone...
You are with me....
Today I prayed for angels,
To keep watch over you;
To guard and then protect you,
In everything you do.
When I whispered to the Father,
I asked for him to bring;
A touch of love and goodness,
Sent forth on angel's wings.
I asked for them to whisper,
Peace and joy into your ear;
That songs of love and happiness,
Would be all that you would hear.
Then I asked the Father,
To shine upon your face;
An extra special blessing,
Of His mercy and His grace.
Tonight i asked the father,
To grant one more request;
That angels stand watch over you,
And give you peaceful rest.
So if you feel a brush of wings,
Or a soft breeze fills the air;
Just know it's angels watching you,
Because of whispered prayer.
We met and we married a long time ago,
We worked long hours and wages were low,
No t.v, no wireless, no bath, times were hard,
Just a cold water tap and a walk down the yard.
No holidays abroad, no carpet on the floor,
We had coal on the fire and we didn't lock the doors,
Our chidren arrived, no pill in those days,
And we brought them up without stste aid.
They were safe to go out and play in the park,
And old folks could go for a walk in the dark.
No valium, no drugs, no L.S.D,
We cured all our ills with a good cup of tea.
No vandal's, no mugging, there was nothing to rob,
We felt we were rich with a couple of bob.
People were happier in those far off days,
Caring and kinder in so many ways.
Milkman and paperboys would whistle and sing;
A night at the pictures was our one mad fling.
We all got our share of troubles and strife,
We just had to face it; it's the pattern of life.
I remember the blessings, our home and our love,
We all share them together, I thank God above.
SMILE
Smiling is infectious
You catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled
At me today, I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner
And someone saw my grin.
And when he smiled I
Realised I'd passed it on to him.
I thought about that smile
Then realised it's worth,
A single smile just like mine
Could travel around the Earth.
So if you feel a smile begin,
Don't leave it undetected
Let's start an epidemic quick,
And get the world infected.

FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND
One night I dreamed I was walking
Along the beach with the Lord,
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints
Other times there was only one.
This bothered me because I noticed
During the low periods in my life when I was
Suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord, 'You promised me
Lord, that if I followed you,
You would walk with me always,
But I noticed during the most trying periods
Of my life there has only been
One set of prints in the sand.
Why when I needed you most,
Have you not been there for me?'
The Lord replied,
'The times when you have only seen one set
Of footprints,
It was when I carried you.'

Do not stand at my grave and weep...
I am not there- I do not sleep,
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow,
I am the gentle rains that fall,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush,
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in every lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry-
I did not die....
(Mary E Frye 1932)
DEATH IS NOTHING AT ALL
Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into the next room;
I am I and you are you-
Whatever we were to each other,
That we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name;
Speak to me in the easy way
Which you always used.
Put no forced diffence in your tone,
Wear no air of soleminity or sorrow,
Laugh as we always laughed,
At the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Let my name be ever the household word
That it always was.
Let it be spoken with effect
Without the trace of a shadow in it,
Life means all it ever meant,
It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
Because I am out of sight.
I am waiting for you, for an interval
Somewhere very near- just around the corner.
All is well!
